Barcelona will welcome Cadiz to their ground in a league match on Monday and are expected to win. They must atone for their Europa League loss, where they were knocked out by Eintracht Frankfurt after winning at the famous Camp Nou.
The Catalans allocated 5,000 tickets to the away fans for the match against the German side, but over 30,000 arrived. Frankfurt had an almost home-like atmosphere in the stadium, Barcelona fans took it badly.
It was no different for the club management, who were angry after the match and took clear action. The tickets will no longer be transferable so that no one can trade them. Barcelona simply does not want to experience a similar indignity again.
While the club blames the fans, some fan groups are blaming the club for a change. One group is therefore planning a boycott of Monday’s league game. It explained its reasons for the move in a statement on social media.
“It is difficult for us to understand how an invasion announced several weeks in advance could go unnoticed by the security department. Wewonder if it was caught by surprise or if inaction was encouraged in order to raise three million euros for the coffers,” the statement read.
“We must be thankful that, given the seriousness of the situation, Eintracht fans are not among the most conflicted in Europe. Who knows where we would be now if things had been different,” the Barcelona fans are clear.
Thursday’s events are then perceived by the fan group as the biggest disgrace in history and a social humiliation that will certainly not be forgotten easily, Equally, it is hoped that a similar situation will never happen again.
