Real Madrid destroyed Barcelona 4-0 in the Copa del Rey semi-final rematch, with Karim Benzema dominating the pitch. He scored a hat-trick and proved his importance once again. The White Ballet are now through to the final, where they will face Osasuna.

On Wednesday, 5 April, Real Madrid were scheduled to play a rematch of the Copa del Rey semi-finals at Barcelona. And as for the result, Carlo Ancelotti’s charges were probably expecting a much tougher game than the one they ended up playing.

However, in the third minute the home side claimed a penalty when David Alaba played his hand in the penalty area.

However, the referee did not give Barcelona the advantage. The Blaugrana created another chance in the tenth minute, but Sergi Roberto’s shot did not end up in the net.

The first half offered many beautiful moments and chances. Both Barcelona and Real had a lot of chances. In the 12th minute, Vinícius Junior failed to cross the ball into the net after a pass from Rodrygo. The home side had a great chance in the first half, but Robert Lewandowski did not beat the great Thibaut Courtois.

You don’t give, you get. That’s exactly what’s been the case in these moments. Just a few tens of seconds after the Polish striker’s chance, Vinicius got to the ball and cleared it behind Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Coach Ancelotti’s charges added another goal in the 50th minute. Luka Modric showed how well he and Karim Benzema get along on the pitch and it was the latter who scored the second goal of the game.

And eight minutes later, Frenchman Benzema scored again, sending Real into a three-goal lead from a penalty after a foul by Franck Kessie.

In the 77th minute, Benzema got another goal after a Marc Asensio centre, but this time he didn’t get his sights right. A minute later, on the other hand, Asensio got a shot off himself, but Ter Stegen pulled off a superb save.

And in the 80th minute, Benzema, 35, completed his hat-trick, proving his importance to the team once again. With a 4-0 win, the White Ballet are now through to the Copa del Rey final, where they will face Osasuna.
