Barcelona are keeping a close eye on Martinelli, with whom Arsenal have so far been trying in vain to extend his contract. Can he convince him?

Martinelli is without any doubt one of the key men in Arsenal’s current success, dominating the Premier League this season.

The 21-year-old Brazilian striker himself has contributed to this with 5 goals and 2 assists, in addition to some great performances. Thanks to this, he has also earned a place in the Brazilian national team for the championship in Qatar.

Coach Tite has used him in 3 of the 4 games so far, playing a total of 111 minutes, but not scoring any points.

After all, Brazil has a huge competition in the attack and the Gunners winger can be very happy for these minutes, after all it is valuable experience.

However, this is no longer the case at Arsenal, where he is the clear number one on the left flank of the attack. It is therefore no wonder that Mikel Arteta and his colleagues are trying to convince Martinelli to stay at the Emirates Stadium and extend his contract.

The Guarulhos, Brazil native is signed in London until 2024, with the club having the option to extend his contract for another year. However, this is not enough for Arsenal management and already before the championship, reports started appearing in the English media that both sides were trying to agree on a new contract.

However, nothing has been agreed so far and according to the Spanish server Sport, Barcelona, who have been following the Brazilian winger for some time and have only the best references for him, are trying to stick a pitchfork in everything.

Martinelli is still very young, but he is already a complete player who can also be used in multiple positions, which makes him even more of a prized commodity.

The ongoing World Cup in Qatar, where Brazil are the biggest favourites, could certainly increase his price tag, as their sovereign performances so far confirm. However, Martinelli has formidable competition in Vinícius Jr, so there won’t be much room for him to prove himself here.
