It’s no secret that Barcelona is in a financial crisis. It has been going on for a long time. Yet, every now and then it is associated with big transfers and the departure of some star players. But now the club’s boss Joan Laporta has spoken out on many things.

Barcelona may have won the title last season, but they are unlikely to build on that this season. Unfortunately for Real Madrid, the fact that it cannot compete with Real Madrid in terms of transfers is now reflected in its results. While these are not a disaster, its competitiveness is suffering.

Moreover, this has put the club under constant pressure and Xavi Hernández, although not doing badly at all, has not been able to handle it. This is also why he will leave the team of his heart after the season. He believes that this will be a good move for the Blaugranas.

But the future of the team is not black at all. It all depends on whether Barcelona keep their talents and if they stay healthy and fulfil their potential. In that case, the financial crisis affecting the purchases might not bother it too much.

Yet, constantly the media associate the Catalan big club with big transfers. Recently, Joan Laporta had to face speculation about the possible transfer of Erling Haaland. “We don’t need big transfers,” he dismissed the speculation in an interview with Mundo Deportivo.

Moreover, his target is quite clear. He wants to bring in team players who won’t disrupt the harmony in the squad. It is worth mentioning that this is exactly what he expects from Kylian Mbappé, for example, if he signs for Real Madrid.

Barcelona want to keep their stars

But beyond possible arrivals, there is also talk of departures from the Catalan club. However, Joan Laporta also refutes these. Or rather, he admitted that there are offers coming in, but Barcelona are not going to accept them.

An offer of around €200 million has reportedly come in for 16-year-old Lamine Yamal, but to no avail. Recently, there was speculation abroad about PSG’s interest and exactly that amount.

“Likewise, we rejected offers that were aimed at Balde, Fermín, Pedri, De Jong, Araujo or Gavi. We don’t want to sell our stars,” the club boss said. But if anyone wants to leave, he will not prevent anyone.

In any case, Barcelona is counting on Ansu Fati, who is slowly getting into form at Brighton in England, to return to the team after the season. In addition, Laporta expects to keep the duo of Joao Cancelo and Joao Félix in Catalonia.

Both Portuguese players are only on loan at the club. They should continue to be guest deals for agreed sums.
