Balotelli is back in form in Turkey! Motivated by his return to the national team
Mario Balotelli should still be in the prime of his career at the age of 31. However, this is regularly complicated by his disciplined nature, which has caused him to miss out on recent engagements. But now in Turkey he is trying to put things right and is eager to return to the national team.
He was a huge talent, he should have been one of the best footballers of his generation, but he has wasted his potential.
Mario Balotelli has had some successful engagements, but unfortunately there are more less successful ones.
Last time he did very well in France, he scored 43 goals in 76 games for Nice and 8 times in 15 games for Marseille.
Then he returned to Italy. He was to lead Brescia to promotion. He was even captain, but he didn’t live up to expectations. He tried to get into shape at Monza in the second league, but he didn’t shine there either, but he didn’t do badly.
He was thrown a lifeline from Turkey before this season by Italian coach Vincenzo Montella, who recruited him to his side Adana Demirspor until 2024.
It didn’t seem too promising at first, with Balotelli again avoiding a few setbacks, but in September he really started to shine. In the last five games he scored 4 goals and added 1 assist.
And his motivation? According to coach Montella, a return to the national team. The Italian coach himself will do his best to help him achieve this goal.
“We talk a lot with Mario. He trains a lot, behaves well and has a great desire. He’s not 100% fit yet, but he wants to get in shape so he can still get a chance to represent Italy,” Montella let slip.
Balotelli has played 36 games for the Italian national team, scoring 14 goals. He played his last game in 2018.
The current Azzurri coach Roberto Mancini is aware of the potential that the Italian striker harbours. Therefore, the chances of a comeback happening are still quite real. But Balotelli really needs to show that he is serious.
