PSG drew 1-1 with Benfica Lisbon in the second leg. Both goals came from penalty kicks, Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring and Joao Mario equalised. Both clubs are now on eight points after four rounds.

Kylian Mbappé was the first to make his presence felt, but his cross into the box in the eighth minute was stopped by the visiting defence and turned away for a corner kick. On the other side, Rafa Silva shot after a good combination, but was very inaccurate.

Next it was a roundabout way from Paris, but it lacked any moment of surprise. An interesting situation came in the 28th minute, when Pablo Sarabia accidentally brought down Alex Grimaldo with scissors instead of the ball.

Just when it seemed that Benfica would hold on in the first half, right back Juan Bernat was fouled in the 39th minute and a penalty was whistled. Mbappé took the ball and with a cross to the left post gave the goalkeeper no chance.

After the change of sides, the French speedster could have added a second, but his shot from the edge of the box just missed the back post. In any case, Benfica did not give up and their offensive efforts were rewarded in the 60th minute.

Silva was fouled in the penalty area, which was not noticed by the referee. However, after watching the replay, he pointed to the white dot. The ball was taken by the experienced central midfielder Joao Mario and he equalised with a shot under the crossbar.

The Parisians didn’t seem to have the strength to turn it around, the absence of Lionel Messi was very noticeable in their play, especially Neymar was half-hearted. Nevertheless, Mbappé gave them the lead back in the 86th minute, but his beautiful goal from a volley could not stand for offside. The match ended 1-1.
