The first tennis festival of the year is already knocking slowly but surely on the door. The Australian Open will start in just a few days and there is a lot to look forward to. Once again, the best tennis players will be there, and the Czech Republic will also be represented in large numbers.
Among the men, Jiri Vesely and Tomas Machac, while Petra Kvitova, Karolina and Kristyna Pliskova, Markéta Vondrousova, Kateřina Siniakova, Barbora Strýcová, Karolina Muchová, Marie Bouzkova and Barbora Krejčíková will take part in the women’s tournament.
Among the world stars, Djokovic, Nadal, Zverev, Tsitsipas, Medvedev or Thiem will not be absent, and among the women, Barty, Osaka, Halep, Kenin, Svitolina and others.
When and where will the Australian Open be held?
After qualifying for the grand slam, the preliminary tournaments are now underway. The Australian Open itself will be held from 8 to 21 February at the Melbourne Park venue, where it has been held regularly since 1988.
Fans will then also be able to visit the stadiums. While the capacity will not match the full stadium crowd, even a few thousand is better than nothing.
Who are the main favourites to win the Australian Open?
In the men’s singles, Novak Djokovic will be defending his title and will be the main favourite. This is his favourite tournament, having won it seven times in the past decade.
