Union scored more goals

1. the half time didn’t smell too good to the unbiased fan’s eye. Augsburg had more possession of the ball, but it didn’t lead to any shots. The visitors were more likely to get into shooting positions, but they had no dangerous situations.

The exception, however, was a shot by Czech midfielder Alex Kral, who found the ball in the opponent’s hex in the 27th minute. However, his shot was well wide of the right post.

All the remaining actions in the first half ended either with an unprepared and subsequently inaccurate centre, or the centre was blocked by the first player in the way. The fans were rather bored in the stadium most of the time.

Augsburg dominated the 2nd half

The home side entered the 2nd half better thanks to a mistake in the Berlin defence. Tietz picked up the ball and with a shot from inside the penalty area he split the net. The visiting goalkeeper Ronnow was completely helpless. It was the home team’s first shot between the three posts.

Vargas tried to increase the home side’s lead in the 58th minute but sent his shot wide of the three posts. The finish, however, was preceded by a great slalom between Union defenders. Augsburg improved their performance throughout.

The visiting Trimmel had the equalizer. However, a shot deflected by goalkeeper Dehmen did not find the net. It was the visitors’ best chance of the game so far. Experienced cannonballer Volland also came on as a substitute in the 66th minute.

Michel, who came on as a substitute in the 83rd minute, put the final stop to the match. The experienced striker found the best way into the opponent’s hexagonal box and with a shot under the crossbar gave the visitors’ goalkeeper no chance.
