At a UFC gala in Mexico, there was a mass brawl of fans, one of them handing out knockouts. The craziest thing I’ve ever seen, says Dana White
The UFC returned to Mexico, where they brought a very attractive fight card. However, that wasn’t enough for the fans in the arena as they began to fight amongst themselves during the gala. What did the organization’s boss Dana White have to say about that?
The UFC returned to Mexico, where it brought a very attractive fight card. However, that wasn’t enough for the fans in the arena as they began to fight amongst themselves during the gala. What did the organization’s boss Dana White have to say about that?
No less than a dozen Mexican fighters were given the opportunity to fight in the UFC on Saturday night in front of a home crowd in Mexico City. But it wasn’t just the Mexican fans who were in attendance at the unnumbered gala.
Brian Ortega returned to action after a long layoff, defeating Yair Rodriguez, and in a battle of two Brandons, Royval defeated former champion Moreno. All in all, the tournament was certainly not boring.
Even more striking is the situation that occurred in the stands among the spectators. The fans started fighting amongst themselves. Not that there were too few of them. One of the fighters tried to calm the conflict during the post-match interview.
The footage of the mass brawl, of course, quickly made the rounds on social media, and it’s no wonder. Interestingly, one of the participants scored two knockouts. That’s how serious it was.
Dana White reacts to brawl in the audience
The interesting thing about the whole brawl is that no matter where you look, you basically can’t find security. Yet this isn’t the first time something like this has happened, though apparently never to this extent.
And what does UFC boss Dana White have to say about it? He says it won’t hurt the organization’s reputation. Still, he’s understandably not happy about it.
“The crazy thing about the fight is that it lasted so long. When it broke out, it felt endless. That’s why I ran over there and watched what was going on. Nobody intervened. I waited for security, but they didn’t intervene until it was over,” MMA Junkie quoted White as saying.
“It was one of the craziest things I’ve ever seen, but I don’t think it creates a bad view of the UFC. Nobody, once that s*** was over, wanted to start another conflict,” added the head of the biggest MMA organization in the world.
Media wondered if there were any injuries or if any of the participants will take legal action, but Dana White did not reveal any such information.
