Champions League
At 37 years old, the ex-Teplice Džeko became the second oldest player to score a goal in a Champions League semi-final!
At thirty-seven years old, Inter Milan striker Edin Džeko never ceases to amaze. He scored his first goal in the 2-0 win over AC Milan and became the second oldest player ever to score in a semi-final. The top spot is held by Ryan Giggs, who was three months older in the 2010/2011 season. What did the Bosnia and Herzegovina striker himself have to say?

The top spot is held by Ryan Giggs, who was three months older in the 2010/2011 season. What did the Bosnia and Herzegovina striker himself have to say?
Eight minutes into the game was on the scoreboard when Inter played a corner kick. Džeko did not let himself be stopped by the home team’s defending captain Calabria and, following a Calhanoglu centre, he cleared the ball into the net from a volley.
After the match, in which the Nerazzurri secured a promising lead for the rematch, Džeko was praised on social media and in the studios of world television.
After all, he had made it to the semi-finals of the millionaire competition at an age when many football greats had already retired or were playing out their careers somewhere outside Europe. What did the goalscorer himself have to say about his goal?
“It’s a great feeling, especially in the derby. Itwas actually our away game, so we have a great result going into the rematch,” said Džeko, who was also asked in a post-match interview whether he will extend his contract, which expires after the season. “Don’t ask me, ask the club,” he replied.
Inter could have scored more than two goals, especially in the first half, but the visitors did not take their other chances. AC Milan, on the other hand, showed almost nothing going forward, and will go into the rematch making up a two-goal deficit.
Moreover, this is the first time in history that Inter have beaten their rivals in three different competitions. In the league, the cup and the Champions League, a truly remarkable feat. In addition to competing in the Champions League final, the two teams are also battling each other in the league for the places that guarantee participation in the millionaire competition for next season.
Next week we will have a rematch between the Milan clubs, and it will be interesting to see how the Bosnian striker will shuffle the cards of destiny in the match. But we all suspect that we will see a great spectacle.
