Aston Villa vs. Leeds: preview and betting tips

Basically, there is nothing to write about :D. Erling Haaland’s records are probably no fun anymore, but I have to write about the Norwegian sniper. 22 games, 26 goals, 3 assists. 21 goals in 16 rounds in the Premier League. But you know this. The important thing is that he’s made Manchester City a club that doesn’t panic even at 0-2. It’s not just about the game against Crystal Palace (0-2 to 4-2), but about the sovereignty of the tidy sniper in the end. Leaving aside the Leeds game, it’s almost a case of a chance is a goal. Brutal left foot, solid right foot, Ronaldo-like leap, Ibrahimovic-level versatility in the final third. No matter how defensively the PL defends, it’s almost impossible. Off the top of my head I can only think of Everton, who, although they cashed in from Haaland, drew 1-1 literally.

The Premier League returns to Villa Park on Friday, with home side Aston Villa welcoming Leeds. The home side can still fight for European Cups, while the visitors are primarily looking to save themselves. What to expect from the game?

Aston Villa have picked themselves up under new coach Unaeus Emery, losing only one of the last five rounds but then crashing out of the FA Cup. They are 11th in the table, six points behind the Top 7 guaranteeing European Cups.

Leeds, on the other hand, has been waiting for a league triumph for four rounds, hasn’t won since Christmas, and only drew with Cardiff in the FA Cup last week and is facing a rematch. They have dropped to 14th in the table and are just two points away from the relegation zone.

Aston Villa’s key figures

The Villans rely on goals from Ollie Watkins, the hard-working striker has netted four goals and assisted four times so far. Defensive midfielder Douglas Luiz is also contributing to the offensive effort, assisting three times in addition to three shots.

Leeds key figures

The visitors are banking on Spanish striker with national team experience Rodrigo, who has already netted 11 goals and assisted once. Tyler Adams is working reliably in the midfield, besides scoring three goals.

Aston Villa’s offense has been on fire, hitting seven in a row. It scored three goals against Manchester and two in the cup, and celebrated twice against Tottenham. It has the third best offensive record of the teams in the second half of the table with 20 shots.

Leeds is even better in terms of attack, scoring 25 goals. It has scored more than once in six of its last eight games, striking three times against Tottenham and twice in the West Ham net. Defensively, it’s been worse.

Considering the much improved performances of the Villans since the change in head coach, as well as Leeds’ long-chaotic defence, I think Aston Villa will score full points in front of their fans.
