AS Roma will play the return leg of the Europa League semi-final on Thursday, welcoming Leicester at home. The two favourites for the overall triumph are in an open clash, with the opening game ending 1-1.
AS Rome are struggling, they have not won four games in all competitions and are only fighting for fifth place in the league. It reached the semi-finals of the ECL in the play-offs via Dutch side Vitesse and then Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt.
Leicester are not in an ideal position either, while last year they were fighting for the Champions League, this year the league target is top 10. Their only route to the cups is triumph in the EKL, knocking out Foxes Randers, Rennes and PSV Eindhoven on the way to the top four teams in the competition.
Tammy Abraham is having an excellent season, scoring twenty-four times and assisting five times in an AS jersey. Lorenzo Pellegrini shines in midfield, the Italian international has scored thirteen goals and assisted six.
Youri Tielemans has been dragging the visitors for a long time, the Belgian midfielder has scored seven times and assisted four times. Offensive playmaker James Maddison has netted fourteen times and assisted on nine goals.
The home side will be without injured midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, with Leicester missing left back Ryan Bertrand and centre-half Wilfried Ndidi.
AS has struggled in attack, scoring more than one goal in only one of its last five games.
But the same can be said of Leicester, who have scored just four goals in their last five games.
Given the form of AS’s offense, I think Leicester will take advantage of a rested squad that has nothing left to play for in the league and not lose after regulation time.
