On Wednesday, the final of the European Conference League will be played between AS Rome and Slavia’s executioner Feyenoord. A battle is expected on the pitch and in the stands, what to expect from the match and what to bet on?
AS Roma are not in ideal form ahead of the final, having won only two of their last eight games, but they did beat FC Torino 3-0 at the weekend. On their way to the final, they knocked out Vitesse from the Netherlands, Bodo Glimt from Norway and Leicester from England.
Feyenoord’s form is not ideal either. Only one win in the last four games, plus a loss to Twente in the Eredivisie at the weekend. On their way to the final, Rotterdam have knocked out Serbia’s Partizan Belgrade, Slavia and France’s Marseille.
Tammy Abraham is firing in the Romans’ jersey, the English striker has scored twenty-five goals and assisted five times. Team captain and Italian international anchored Lorenzo Pellegrini has scored fourteen times and assisted on eight goals.
The Dutch team is led by offensive midfielder Guus Til, author of twenty-one goals and five assists. Colombian international and speedy winger Luis Sinisterra scored twenty-three times and assisted fourteen times.
The home side will be missing a mainstay in Henrik Mkhitaryan, while Feyenoord will have to do without Tein Troost. The Romans rely on a solid defence, having scored more than once in only one of their last six games.
Feyenoord, on the other hand, follow the motto the best defence is attack, scoring more than once in thirteen of their last sixteen games. Given the strength of Feyenoord’s offense and the Tammy Abraham factor, I think both teams will score.
