Breel Embolo may soon be introduced to a new club after 3 years at Monchengladbach. The Swiss striker is interested in French club AS Monaco, who are about to make an official offer. However, the speculation about Andrea Belotti’s arrival has not been confirmed.

Embolo was considered one of the top attacking talents in the summer of 2016, when he transferred from Basel to Schalke for less than 27 million euros. However, those predictions have failed to come true for the currently 22-year-old striker.

This is mainly due to the fact that he injured his ankle in October, which he treated practically until the end of the season. Interestingly, this happened in the very game after he scored his first Bundesliga goal, against Monchengladbach, to whom he subsequently transferred. He scored two goals for Borussia and Schalke won 4:0.

Embolo was especially famous for his runs behind the opponent’s defence, followed by a hard and accurate shot. He is a very strong player who before his injury was, and still is, one of the fastest top strikers in the world. That is why he is often used as a winger, as he is a very complex footballer who has no problem playing with a weaker left foot.

At Schalke, apart from injuries, he also encountered a very bad period for this team, whose management had both a bad nose for coaches and other player transfers didn’t work out nearly as the fans in the Veltins-Arena had imagined. At Monchengladbach, he again experienced a period of coronavirus and changed positions more often in the beginning.

Embolo has had a relatively good season though, scoring 11 goals in 31 games and assisting on 6 more. He was especially successful in the spring, scoring 6 goals in the last 8 league rounds. We must also mention his great performance in the second round of the DFB-Pokal, in which he and his teammates destroyed Bayern Munich 5:0 with 2 goals and 2 assists.

He will also try to confirm his scoring form this year with AS Monaco, which, according to Sky Sport reporter Florian Plettenberg, is preparing an offer of almost 13 million euros for Embol.

However, he would have quite a lot of competition in the south of France, with team captain Wissam Ben Yedder and talented youngster Myron Boadu at the tip of the attack. But of course, it is possible that someone else will leave the team and AS Monaco are looking for a possible alternative.

Ben Yedder may be 31 years old, but he scored a total of 32 goals for the French team last season and assisted 7 more. That’s some nice numbers that could have caught anyone’s attention.
