After years of suffering, joy finally comes. Arsenal fans are enjoying a dream season, top of the table and marching towards the title. They even have more points than the legendary Invincibles.

When Arsenal started last season with three defeats in a row and a 0:9 record, the voices about Mikel Arteta’s recall grew louder. But the Spanish coach eventually lifted his young team and even got them into the Top 4, but dropped out at the last minute.

But this year is a different story. Arsenal showed their strength in the pre-season dress rehearsal when they thrashed Sevilla 6-0. And they demonstrated that it was no fluke with a dream start in the Premier League, winning seven games in a row.

After that came a defeat to Manchester United, but the Gunners atoned for that with four more wins in a row, including derby victories against Tottenham and Liverpool. Arsenal then defeated another tough opponent, Chelsea, to round off the autumn at the top of the table.

After a break for the World Cup, Arteta’s charges returned in style. They won 4 out of 5 Premier League games, drawing only with Newcastle. The most valuable are the last two scalps, when Arsenal first beat Tottenham in the derby at his stadium and then also beat the chasers Manchester United.

Arsenal thus collected 50 points in 19 rounds for 16 wins, 2 draws and a single defeat. The Gunners have a five-point lead over second-placed Manchester City and a game to spare.

It is the number of points that will remind Arsenal fans of the golden days. For all red and white fans, the 2003/04 season is probably the most important, when Arsenal reached the title without a single loss and made history as the Invincibles.

But Odegaard. …and Co. are better off now. Henry’s team had 45 points after 19 games, Arsenal currently have 50. “Exceptional. It couldn’t have been much better, ” Arteta said after the Red Devils game about the first half of the season.

Of course, it’s not over yet, we’re still only halfway through the season and Arsenal could run out of breath. However, at the moment, he is going for the title in an absolutely sovereign way, which he has been waiting for since the aforementioned Invincibles season, in 2004.
