Arteta vs. Wenger: Comparing the two Arsenal coaches after the first 200 duels, the Spaniard has more wins but loses to the legend
Mikel Arteta has 200 games under his belt as Arsenal manager, so we can now compare him to Arséne Wenger, who spent over 20 seasons on the Gunners bench. The Spaniard managed to win 116 times in his first 200 games, five more wins than the French legend had in that time.

Arteta has begun a rebuild at Arsenal that is bearing fruit
At the time Mikel Arteta took over at Arsenal, the London outfit was in a slight state of decay. A lot of players were overpaid, competitions were not going well and so the Spanish manager was facing a major rebuild. However, the young coach had a clear vision, which he stuck to throughout, and it can be said that it was successful.
Arteta was appointed manager of the Gunners on December 20, 2019 and six days later he was facing his first match, which ended in a 1-1 draw at the Bournemouth ground. On 1 January 2020, the Spaniard celebrated his first victory on the Arsenal bench in a 2: 0 triumph over Manchester United.
Arséne Wenger did not have to wait so long for his first victory as manager. He won his first game on 12 October 1996 at Blackburn Rovers.
Mikel Arteta has already 200 games under his belt as Arsenal manager. He has managed to lead his team to 116 wins and 34 draws, losing 50 times. In these matches his charges have scored 358 goals and conceded 206.
After the first 200 matches, the French manager has led Arsenal to 111 wins and 53 draws, losing only 36 times. Under his leadership in this time the Gunners have scored 336 goals and received 176.
In comparison, Wenger had 386 points and a score of +160, while Arteta has 382 points and a score of +152. So the stats show that the Frenchman had a slightly better start than the Spanish coach.
He won his first trophy earlier, but he has a lot to catch up with Wenger
The wait for Mikel Arteta’s first trophy was not very long. In fact, in his debut season since taking over the reins at Arsenal, he has not known a defeat in the FA Cup. He beat Manchester City 2-0 in the semi-final, where he had previously worked as Pep Guardiola’s assistant, and beat Chelsea 2-1 in the final. He led Arsenal to a historic 14th FA Cup title and became the first man to win the trophy as both player and manager.
In August 2020, he started the season with a 5-4 win at the Community Shield against Liverpool after penalties (1-1 regulation time). Arséne Wenger failed to win any competition in his first season.
In the following season, however, he scored a double by leading Arsenal to the Premier League and FA Cup titles. He then sealed his success by winning the Community Shield.
Wenger led the Gunners to a total of three league titles, seven FA Cups and the same number of Community Shields. Apart from his first season, Arteta has failed to win any competition, although Arsenal dominated the Premier League for a long time last season. However, he failed to finish the end of the season and finished second.
At the start of this season, however, he had the opportunity to lead his charges in the Community Shield as the Citizens won both the league and the cup. Against Guardiola, he managed to win again, this time 4-1 after penalties (1-1 regulation time).
Arsenal have a manager who seems to be taking them in the right direction again after a long time and could stay on the bench for a longer period of time. However, Arteta still needs a lot of time to match all the achievements of the legendary Wenger.
