Three games, two losses, one draw. That’s Arsenal’s recent record. The lead the Gunners had and a great season are gone. And gone, temporarily, is the top spot in the Premier League table.
In Wednesday’s game, Arsenal failed to beat Manchester City at home and lost the lead. However, they still have a game in hand. But there are still many games left in the league and any loss now could be crucial.
Arsenal fans are now panicking. Coach Mikel Arteta is often criticised for losing games. They fear that the long years of waiting for the title will continue.
But Arteta himself is much more positive and optimistic. The performance of his players against Manchester City convinced him that the chances are far from gone, quite the contrary.
“It was a huge battle. A battle that we managed until we got the second goal. We felt we could win but we gave them three goals. We simply cannot make certain mistakes at this level. But at the same time we set a high bar,” Arteta was heard saying.
“I believe in the title more than I did before the game because of the performance and our level that the players showed against Manchester City. With the fans we have, we can do it. We still believe in ourselves, I feel it,” the Spanish strategist added.
As early as Saturday, Arsenal can make amends for their hesitation, but it won’t be easy. It will not be easy, as they travel to Aston Villa. Manchester City will play at Nottingham Forest for a change.
