Arsenal’s start to the new season has not been good at all. However, they are now on a run of eight competitive games without a loss. Yet there is still speculation about the future of coach Mikel Arteta. All the more so now that Barcelona, with whom the former great midfielder has been linked in the past, is without a coach.

Mikel Arteta is still facing criticism from fans at Arsenal. They have called for his dismissal many times, but they still haven’t and probably won’t.

They may not be pleased with the news that the Basque native is not the least bit interested in the currently vacant Barcelona head coach position.

He revealed this in response to questions from journalists. The latter asked about his future due to the fact that in the past Arteta has been linked with the Catalan outfit.

“I am maximally happy at Arsenal, it is an honour to coach here. I’m not focusing on anything else,” the Arsenal coach told the media.

The Gunners are currently 10th in the league table, but are close to the cup standings in terms of points and have taken 11 points from their last five league games, which is the fourth best performance. So the hope is still alive.

Afterwards, the 39-year-old also commented on what is happening in Barcelona: “A lot has happened there in recent years. The club mainly has to move on from the departure of Lionel Messi. It takes time. I hope that Barcelona will recover.”

Arteta is understandably interested in what is happening in Catalonia. He was a player at Barcelona for several years, although he never managed to play in the A-team. He has a strong relationship with the club and is certainly not happy about the situation that one of the most important clubs in the world is in.
