Arteta and co. are far from finished in the transfer market! Arsenal offers 42 million euros for Martínez

Mikel Arteta claimed before the season that he wanted to fill out the squad appropriately and, more importantly, quickly in order to properly prepare for the upcoming season. However, this is what the fans of the London outfit have been listening to year after year. This summer, however, it is already certain that the 40-year-old Spaniard is absolutely serious about rebuilding the squad.
After the arrival of some very interesting players, led by Vieira and Jesus, it remains to bring in players in the centre of defence, where Arteta currently has the trio of Ben White, Gabriel and Rob Holding at his disposal.
Stoper Lisandro Martínez would thus be a very quality reinforcement who could very quickly become the leader of the entire defensive line at the Emirates Stadium. He certainly has the prerequisites!
The still 24-year-old Argentine has been in Europe since the summer of 2019, when he arrived at Ajax from Defensa for €7 million. And immediately since his arrival in the Netherlands, he has become a key figure in the Amsterdam defensive unit, for which he played 40 games in his first season.
He continued his excellent performances in the following seasons, in which he was one of the team’s top-rated players. It is no wonder that Manchester United are interested in his services and now Erik ten Hag has taken over.
Arsenal are thus apparently not wasting any time in trying to snap up the Argentine stopper as soon as possible. However, Ajax will apparently let their gem leave for at least €50 million.
The Dutch champion’s sell-off is thus probably far from over, as the pair of Noussair Mazraoui and Ryan Gravenberch have already left, specifically to Bayern Munich, and there is a lot of interest in other players. The most speculation is over Jurrien Timber and Anthony, who are being lured by the aforementioned Manchester United.
And to make matters worse, the team’s top scorer Sébastien Haller, who managed to score 34 goals in 42 games last season, is the subject of interest from Borussia Dortmund, who want him as a replacement for Erling Haaland.
