Arsenal failed to win the match at Southampton and lost for the third time in a row, this time 0:1. The only goal was scored by Jan Bednarek, Saints jumped closer to the middle of the table, Gunners after another loss slowly forget about the Champions League.

The first shot of the game came from the visiting Bukay Saka, but was blocked by the home defence. In the ninth minute, Gabriel Martinelli tried a shot from outside the box, but the home goalkeeper made the save.

In the 18th minute, Fraser Forster flashed a second time when he reflexively cleared a Bukay Saka volley. The following 20 minutes were without any major chances, and when shots did come, they were very inaccurate.

It was only in the 45th minute that the home side finished off a corner kick and Jan Bednarek scored with a first touch shot. Southampton went into the cabins with a 1:0 lead.

Arsenal were lacking a classic central midfielder, Sambi Lokonga was spoiling in midfield, but Mikel Arteta had no adequate substitute. In the 64th minute, Saka took a shot from outside the box and just missed the back post.

And when Emile Smith-Rowe did hit the post, it was a great save by Forster who headed it out for a corner. The Gunners’ conquest continued with Martin Ödegaard’s shot which flew just wide of the near post.

In the end, Arsenal couldn’t press the opponent and lost 0:1. Arsenal are still three points away from fourth-placed Tottenham.
