Arsenal conclude the eighth round of the Premier League with a London derby against Crystal Palace. The two teams are separated by just three points in the table and both will be looking to win. What to expect from Monday’s game?
Arsenal have picked themselves up after a miserable start to the season, taking ten points from the last four rounds and moving up to eleventh in the table. They are only four points behind third placed Manchester City, which only confirms the evenness of the competition.
Crystal Palace, under new coach Patrick Vieira, are putting in a sympathetic performance, but it doesn’t carry the points. The Eagles have won only once so far and are only fourteenth with seven points. If they continue to play like this, they will undoubtedly go up.
Arsenal’s mainstay is right after the arrival of their full-back Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Emile Smith-Rowe has also been good. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang is the team’s top scorer with two shots.
In the Palace squad it is worth mentioning Conor Gallagher, who was named the club’s best player of August and September after his arrival from Chelsea. Meanwhile, striker Wilfried Zaha has two goals and one assist.
Arsenal’s defence has been on point since the start of September, with only one goal in the last five games.
The same cannot be said for Crystal Palace, who have scored at least two goals in three of their last five games.
Given the Gunners’ solid defense, I recommend betting on the home side to win.
