Pablo Marí is a twenty-nine-year-old footballer who currently plays for Monza in Italy, where he is a guest from Arsenal in England, where he played quite sporadically.
He has been more successful in Italy, with eight league games played this season, in which he even managed to score once.
However, on Thursday evening, reports began to emerge that Mari had been stabbed in a shopping centre in Assago, near Milan.
The Spanish stopper, who has also appeared for Manchester City in the past, was not the main target of the attack, as a mentally disturbed man was on the rampage in the shopping centre.
He injured four people and unfortunately killed one. He was a cashier of Bolivian origin. The attacker was subsequently pacified by shoppers and the police patrol.
“Pablo Marí has a deep wound in his back, which fortunately did not reach his vital organs. His life is not in danger and he should recover quickly,” Monza boss Adriano Galliani told Sky Italy.
But Mari still had to head for surgery, which he has now had. His return to the field will certainly take some time.
Our thoughts are with the friends and family of all those affected. We wish the victims all the best and a speedy recovery.
