Arsenal still hasn’t found an opponent this year! Thanks to the win at the Amex Stadium, they moved to the top of the table

Saturday’s programme of the 32nd round of the English Premier League concluded with Brighton vs Arsenal. While the Seagulls have lost only once at home so far this season, the Gunners still haven’t found a league opponent in the 2024 calendar year. This statistic was also confirmed by the North London team in the second game in April.

The game was played at a tremendous pace from the opening minutes. Already in the second minute, Brazilian stopper Gabriel got an excellent chance after a direct kick by Martin Odegaard, but he was unable to convert the offered opportunity.

There were scoring chances on both sides, for example Gabriel Jesus and Julio Enciso. In both cases, however, the goalkeepers excelled.

In the 31st minute Tariq Lamptey committed an unnecessary foul on the edge of the penalty area and the head referee ordered a penalty kick. Bukayo Saka took the ball and sent the visitors from London into the lead. It was the 14th goal for the English winger in the current league season.

The rest of the opening act didn’t bring a second goal, even a long seven-minute setup didn’t change that. The game went to the cabins with a 1:0 scoreline for Spanish coach Mikel Arteta’s charges.

The beginning of the second half was played mainly in the space between the sixteen boxes. In the 60th minute, however, an excellent pass from Jorginho was taken advantage of by Kai Havertz, who had no problem overcoming the opposing goalkeeper. It was a collaboration between former Chelsea players.

Four minutes before the end of regulation time, Leandro Trossard, who played at the Amex Stadium between 2019 and 2023, added the third goal. The experienced Belgian thus closed the scoring account of this encounter.

Arsenal have regained the top of the table, at least for a while, it will depend on Sunday’s Manchester United vs Liverpool duel. Brighton, on the other hand, moved down one place, with Chelsea ahead of them thanks to a better score.
