Arsenal managed to finish the 27th round of the Premier League, beating Sheffield 6-0. It was decided after three quick goals in the first 15 minutes. The Gunners were two points behind first-placed Liverpool in the table.
Gunners fans were given a gift before the start of the game. Thomas Partey appeared on the roster for the first time since a niggling injury. The Ghanaian midfielder has recovered ahead of Arsenal’s busy schedule, with both Manchester City, Tottenham and Chelsea waiting for him in the rest of the season alongside the Champions League.
Arsenal entered the game rocketing, with Bukayo Saka hitting the bar in the second minute. And Gabriel Martinelli’s finish being cleared by the stopper. Three minutes later, the Gunners were celebrating, with captain Martin Odegaard scoring from the penalty spot.
The Gunners were absolutely dominant. And in the 13th minute Sheffield netted for the second time when stopper Jayden Bogle knocked the ball into his own net. And two minutes later it was all but decided, with Martinelli striking with the help of a defender’s run.
The home goalkeeper made his first appearance in the 21st minute when he cleared an attempt from Declan Rice. But three minutes later, the goalkeeper was fishing the ball out of the net, with Kai Havertz heading a left-footed shot to the back post to make it 4-0. The Sheffield fans were leaving the stadium.
A dominant half was completed by Rice who scored from his first touch in the 39th minute to make it 0: 5. After the change of sides, Arsenal eased off the gas, rested Saku and played out the game against a struggling opponent.
Arsenal added one more goal after the change of sides
Ben White added the sixth goal with an unconventional left-footed shot from the edge of the area near the back post. Gabriel Jesus had a great chance, but he didn’t look at the goalkeeper and only won a corner.
Arsenal can only regret the substitution of Martinelli, who left the field with the help of doctors. Anyway, the Gunners won 6: 0 and from the third place they are again two points behind the leader Liverpool. Sheffield are last and are 11 points behind for salvation.
