Arsenal get their first points of the league season. They beat Norwich 1-0 at home and had at least five chances to score. The three points for the Gunners were decided by Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang had the first chance of the match in the tenth minute, but missed the goal by a whisker. Moments later, Sambi Lokonga fired in a shot, but Tim Krul had little to do with his attempt.

The Dutch goalkeeper also shone in the 19th minute when he blocked Aubameyang’s lob. Norwich gradually got into the game, but were inaccurate in their finishing. In the 43rd minute, Nicolas Pepe shot from a direct kick, but it went over the bar.

Teemu Pukki fired in the setup, but the Gunners’ defence blocked his shot and the game was scoreless.

After the change of sides, Bukayo Saka and Pepe got interesting chances, but their shots were blocked by the defending players. It wasn’t until the 67th minute that the Emirates Stadium crowd could roar. Pepe hit the bar twice, Aubameyang then headed the ball into the net.

The Gabonese speedster could have added an insurance goal in the 84th minute, but Krul again kept him out. Emile Smith-Rowe and Bukayo Saka did not score the second goal, with at least the former having a scoring chance.

As Pukki’s point-blank shot was blocked by the home defence, Arsenal climbed off the last spot in the table.
