Some of the most active teams in the January transfer market are Chelsea and Arsenal, and we may see a few more interesting transfers, even between them. A lot will depend on whether the Blues complete the transfer of Enzo Fernández and Arsenal complete the transfer of Moisés Caicedo.

Fernández to Chelsea

Chelsea’s strong interest in midfielder Fernandez has been rumoured for some time now. However, the Blues’ initial offer was rejected by Benfica, while the English outfit is not giving up and, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, has come up with another €120 million offer.

The talented 22-year-old midfielder impressed especially at the World Cup in Qatar, where he was one of the key links in Argentina’s success. However, he only transferred to Benfica last summer for €14 million, which River Plate collected for him.

However, his performances for the national team were certainly no accident, as he has played 29 games for the Portuguese side so far this season, scoring 4 times and assisting his teammates 7 times. A great performance for a player who has quite a few defensive assignments.

Jorginho to Arsenal

The glut of midfielders at Stamford Bridge is evident, even without a possible new Argentine signing. Moreover, Conor Gallagher has reportedly refused to leave for Everton.

In addition, Arsenal are also looking for a midfielder as they need to expand their squad at this position. That is why they would like to bring Mikel Arteta Caicedo to the Emirates Stadium. However, Brighton have rejected the Gunners’ offer of £60 million, negotiations are still ongoing according to The Athletic.

However, if the Ecuadorian midfielder does not arrive, the Gunners would target Jorginho, who has even played the last two games in a Blues jersey as captain, according to Fabrizio Romano.

But one thing is almost certain! At least one player will probably leave Chelsea by the end of today, as coach Graham Potter has a really big overload in many positions.

Who it will be though, and whether he will be able to get everything contracted at the last minute, is uncertain. David de Gea and many others know about it…
