Arsenal completely dominated London! It’s great to see the club winning all the prizes, says Odegaard
One success after another. This is how the current season could be evaluated from the point of view of Arsenal players and supporters. On Monday evening, the traditional awards for the best coach, player, young player and goalkeeper in London for the past year were handed out. And the result? One success after another. This is how the current season could be evaluated from the point of view of Arsenal players and supporters. On Monday evening, the traditional awards for the best coach, player, young player and goalkeeper in London for the past year were handed out. And the result? All of these awards went to Gunners “staff”.
The results are not at all surprising. If we look at all the teams playing in England’s top competition, the players and coach of the current leader have clearly done the most work. The Gunners took all the major prizes. Let’s start with the Spanish strategist.
Mikel Arteta’s squad was already asking for a Champions League ticket last season, but a late-season blip cost them that. The important thing was that the players didn’t fall apart and with great moves in the transfer market, Arteta strengthened the mentality of the team several times more.
“I thank the entire coaching staff, the club in general for their daily support and of course the fans, whether Arsenal fans or football fans in general,” Arteta said after receiving the award.
The award for the best player of the past year was deservedly given to Gunners captain Martin Odegaard. The Norwegian midfielder has been pulling his weight not only on the pitch but also in the locker room. Moreover, he has improved with every season spent in north London and is now rated better than Kevin De Bruyne among English experts.
“I want to share this with the whole team. It’s great to see the club winning all the awards. I think it shows how far we have come as a club and what we are doing this year is very special,” Odegaard smiled.
In the young player of the year category, twenty-one-year-old Bukayo Saka was the winner of the award. He is one of the most popular players ever among Arsenal supporters and he proves it week after week on the football turf.
“I am very proud to receive this award. It is very special for me and I thank everyone who voted for me,” said Saka.
Finally, we come to the goalkeeper. Aaron Ramsdale, who saved his teammates several times with his saves, deserved the trophy for his performance. Neither Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga nor Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris made the top three.
“This is where I want to be for the next 10, 12, 15 years. I hope I never leave Arsenal and become a real hero, a legend of the club,” Ramsdale concluded.
And to make matters worse, Arsenal striker Beth Mead was the best female player, with her teammate Kim Little finishing second.
