Arsenal are planning a partnership with Watford: Our friendship should be even stronger

Watford and Arsenal are far from each other in the table and both teams also have understandably completely different options and ambitions. Yet they are close, at least in terms of training centres. Basically, you just need to jump the fence.

Both teams’ training centres are located in London Colney, right next door to each other. The current Hornets training centre was used by the Gunners in the past, but they moved to a new one in 1999, leaving the former one to their current neighbours.

When I was playing, I made a few friends there. It’s easy, because once you leave training you bump into each other,” said the Gunners coach in a press conference just before the match against Watford.

Incidentally, if you follow Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster’s YouTube channel, you probably won’t be surprised, given that Arsenal mainstay Aaron Ramsdale is a regular on there.

Both teams are aware of this connection and the good relationship and apparently plan to take advantage of it. As Arteta mentioned, Arsenal’s technical director Edu is currently trying to do so.

“Our friendship should be even stronger. Edu, for example, is working on it at the moment. We are close and I think we can use that to help each other in many ways. The possibility is there.”

Of course, Arteta didn’t go into details about the possible collaboration, only hinting that there could be more frequent transfers between the clubs.

Could we perhaps see Watford’s offensive ace Ismail Sarr in an Arsenal jersey next season? Or perhaps the comet of this season, Emannuel Dennis?

In the other direction, players who Arsenal will want to afford Premier League (or Championship) minutes could go the other way again. Perhaps a Folarin Balogun or a Reiss Nelson?

A collaboration between Watford and Arsenal would make sense. But we’ll probably have to wait a while to see if such a thing actually happens.
