The London outfit’s performances this season have been well above expectations. The team around Mikel Arteta has sat well and is currently leading the title fight with a lead of eight points over Manchester City and Manchester United. Compared to the latter, the Gunners have a game to spare.
Arsenal leaves nothing to chance and decided to strengthen the offensive ranks for the second half of the season, where they will miss summer signing Gabriel Jesús for some time, who is still recovering from a serious knee injury.
Negotiations are at an advanced stage
Today Fabrizio Romano confirmed on his social accounts that Arsenal are in advanced stage of negotiations with Brighton winger Leonardo Trossard.
A transfer to Arsenal is a priority for Trossard at the moment and a verbal agreement has already been reached between the club and the player. Arsenal have made an as yet unspecified offer.
It is up to the two clubs to find a common agreement. Considering the fact that Trossard’s contract expires in the summer and he shows no interest in extending it, it will not be a staggering sum.
Omitted from the club
Leonardo has been dropped from the club in recent days and was not part of the roster for the recent games against Middlesbrough and Liverpool. Prior to that, he spent time on the bench for the game against Everton
The sending off came as a result of behaviour that the Brighton coach was not happy with. Trossard was supposed to leave training before the game against Middlesbrough without informing anyone or getting permission. It is questionable whether he was trying to show by this attitude that he wanted to leave the club as soon as possible.
Brighton are certainly aware that holding on at all costs to a player who is unhappy and wants to leave is not beneficial to the club atmosphere. Furthermore, Trossard would leave for free in the summer, so there will at least be some financial appreciation for the club.
