Arnautovic dragged Bologna after his return from China
Marko Arnautovic has been considered a quality footballer for most of his career, however, according to many, he has not fulfilled the potential he had. That changed when he joined West Ham in 2017, where he swayed the Hammers fans to his side with great performances.
However, two years later, he forced his way into a move to China and in the eyes of many, abandoned any sporting ambitions. After all, he was already over 30 years old and it was not expected that he would come to Europe afterwards and make a splash.
But it more or less happened. After two years in China, he returned to Italy and became a hero right from the start in Bologna. Thus, the fans already welcomed him upon signing and the Australian himself confirmed this position in the season. In 33 games he scored 14 goals and added 1 assist.
Will he play for the big club again?
Arnautovic has been through some interesting clubs in his career. He started his senior career at Twente in the Netherlands, where he earned a transfer to Inter Milan. However, he didn’t make a name for himself there, so he headed to Werder Bremen.
He made a very good impression in Bremen, played in the Champions League and then moved to England where he played for Stoke City and West Ham. In China, he tried out for Shanghai SIPG.
It wasn’t too much expected that he would perhaps get another look at one of the really big clubs, but it may happen. Juventus are looking for someone who will be able to fill in for striker Dusan Vlahovic.
Bologna don’t want to sell him, Juventus are desperate
It is quite understandable that Bologna don’t want to lose their key player. However, Juventus are building a star-studded team and one of the things that is missing is a replacement for Vlahovic. Angel Di María and Paul Pogba are expected to join the team for free.
In addition, Juventus will then have several players they no longer need, which they are looking to take advantage of in their quest to acquire Arnautovic. The Bianconeri are thus offering Bologna in exchange for Arnautovic, for example, Daniel Rugani, a 27-year-old stopper.
