Thirty-three year old Gabonese national striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and his wife were the target of an armed robbery by several masked men.
It happened at their home in Castelldefels, a town close to Barcelona, where the footballer is based. At least for now, as his future is being intensively discussed.
At least four armed thieves were said to have broken into Aubameyang’s property after midnight and then into the house itself, where they surprised the family.
They were to threaten them with pistols and metal bars, and even beat up the experienced attacker, according to El País. The threats lasted so long that the owners finally relented and opened the safe.
There, the thieves seized the valuables and then left the house. The police are now working on the case, but it is surprising that the thieves chose a time when the couple were at home.
It often happens that burglaries are planned on the date of a match to ensure that no one is at home. But why there was no security guard on duty, and whether there was any at all, is a question that will never be answered.
