The November part of the qualification for the World Cup in Qatar will be concluded by a showdown between Argentina and Brazil. Lionel Messi should be healthy by now, can he build on his win in the Copa America final?

Argentina are almost certain to qualify for the tournament, they just need to win one of their last five games. So far it has only lost points for four draws. Still, it has great motivation to beat its biggest rival from South America, as it has a lot to give back over the past years.

As expected, Brazil is clearly the first team in the qualification table. Its only loss was at home against Colombia, and it has won its other eleven matches. So far, the Canaries have conceded just four goals.

Lionel Messi should be ready to play a full match by now. The holder of six Ballon d’Or boasts a record of 10+7 since the start of 2020. Lautaro Martinez has managed to score eight times and assist three times in the same period.

In the national jersey, it’s still burning for Neymar, he has netted nine national team goals since the beginning of this year. Midfielder Lucas Paquetá is not only shining in Lyon, he has a 4+4 record in the national team jersey.

The Argentines rely on an impenetrable defence and have not scored a goal in five matches.

The Brazilians have scored at least twice in three of their last five games.

Given Messi’s poor form and Brazil’s rampant attack, I think the visitors will come away with at least a point.
