Saudi Arabia has completely conquered this year’s transfer market. They have attracted several star players to their league, the motivation is of course money. Now Aymeric Laporte and Yassin Bono are close to leaving.
The list of all the players who transferred to Saudi Arabia from Europe in the summer would be long. And these are not second tier players, but often first class stars.
For example, the ever-current Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema, one of the world’s biggest stars Neymar, fresh Champions League winner Riyad Mahrez, long-time Liverpool stalwarts Sadio Mané, Roberto Firmino or Jordan Henderson, or Allan-Saint Maximin.
But the Saudi Pro League doesn’t have enough. And as long as it can, it will lure any star looking for a new deal. And there are two more on the horizon.
Aymeric Laporte is on his way out of Manchester City. Because of the EURO after the end of the season, the Spanish stopper was looking for an engagement where he would play regularly, but so far he has not received any tempting offer.
So Al-Nassr came with interest. The club that Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mané, Marcelo Brozovic, Anderson Talisca and Alex Telles play for.
Citizens have already agreed to sell the 29-year-old defender, now it’s up to the player. But according to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, a deal should be close.
Yassine Bono will most likely be the next arrival in Arabia. The Sevilla goalkeeper, who has signed two Europa League titles in the last 3 years and took Morocco to the semi-finals of the World Cup, is on his way to join Neymar at Al-Hilal.
Sevilla have accepted a €19 million bid, with bonuses collecting up to €21 million. Bono is now fine-tuning the terms of a three-year contract, but first he will catch Wednesday night’s Super Cup game against Manchester City, after which he is expected to sign.
