Antonio Conte is one of the best coaches in Europe, that’s why Tottenham somehow counted on the Italian to lead the team to a trophy. But it didn’t happen and since March the 54-year-old strategist is without a contract. What is his regret and where would he like to coach?
The Italian coach has led clubs like Juventus, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Tottenham. He also tried his hand at the Italian national team. But he has been out of work since March 2023 and although there is some speculation here and there, he is not going anywhere.
The fact is that Antonio Conte won’t last very long anywhere. However, where he has been, he has usually been successful. At 54, he is still one of the greatest coaching aces in Europe.
He has nine club trophies to his name. He has won the Italian league four times, dominated the Italian Super Cup twice, and once in the second Italian league, the Premier League or the English FA Cup.
He has accomplished a lot, but there is still a lot more to come. Then, when it was mentioned that he won’t last long anywhere, according to Transfermarkt, he only lasts an average of 1.22 years with one team.
By far the most he has done at Juventus, where he was also the most successful. After all, he became a legend as a player in Turin and only enhanced his legacy as a coach. In a recent interview with Belve, he admitted that he regrets leaving the club.
“I regret leaving Juventus after only three years. I would have loved to try an engagement in Rome or Naples one day. However, I usually prefer to take over the team at the end of the season,” Fabrizio Romano was quoted as saying.
Besides, Conte revealed that he has received a very generous offer from Saudi Arabia. “I decided to say no,” the Italian strategist admitted.
Where will Conte train?
Recently, Antonio Conte has been linked with several stints. There has been talk of his potential return to the Italian national team. His involvement with Napoli was also in the cards and he was approached by the club.
But Naples is resolving the situation regarding the coach. There is not the greatest satisfaction with Rudi Garcia, who took over from Luciano Spalletti. It is thus possible that the Partenopei could turn to the Italian right at the end of the season.
However, another club could do the same. In Italy, the future of José Mourinho is increasingly being discussed. According to the latest information, he is expected to leave AS Roma at the end of the season, prompting further speculation. Two clubs that Conte would one day like to take over could find themselves without a coach. Will the experienced coach see the lasso thrown?
