British tennis player Andy Murray did not climb high enough in the ATP rankings to be among the seeded tennis players. Still, he has big goals at Wimbledon. What does the British tennis legend want ahead of the London Grand Slam?
Andy Murray is finally back up the ATP rankings, but he still hasn’t got high enough to meet his main goal before the start of the third Grand Slam of the season. He won’t be one of the seeded players at this year’s Wimbledon. Still, the local champion is determined to make a big impact at the All England Club.
In recent weeks, Murray has been unbeaten in the Challengers, but failed to find success at Queen’s Club. His first round opponent, Australian De Minaur, was beyond the British tennis player. He now has no choice but to wait anxiously for the draw of the opening round of the London Grand Slam.
A wish for the British tennis player
Although, in his own words, Murray is ready for all opponents. He would prefer to encounter the better ones in the later stages of the grass grand slam.
“But given the current situation, I have to be ready for matches against the best right from the start. I need to be able to play against everyone right from the start,” the two-time Wimbledon champion added in an interview with the Independent.
However, the 36-year-old would love to meet one of the top-seeded players at the All England Club. He hasn’t played Novak Djokovic for a long time and would welcome another duel with the Serbian tennis player. “I can’t even remember the last time we played together,” said the Glasgow native.
Let’s add that it’s been more than a year since Murray last clashed with Djokovic. The number of matches the two Wimbledon champions have played together is unbelievable. Their next clash, if it comes to that, will be number 38.
Seeded tennis players
And among the seeded players, there’s really no one to worry about. In the group of 32 seeded tennis players we find the players with the best current form, led by Carlos Alcaraz. Djokovic has number two by his name. Followed by Casper Ruud and Greece’s Tsitsipas.
Potentially very dangerous opponents are also in the second ten seeded players. Let’s mention the recently very successful players Tiafoe and Bublik. As Wimbledon’s number 15 player, Murray is facing his recent conqueror De Minaur.
We will find out how the draw for the third Grand Slam of 2023 will turn out on Friday. Not only from the position of the British Murray, it will be a highly anticipated event.
