Another sensational transfer in Spain! Real Madrid could be taken over by Jürgen Klopp in the summer. How realistic is that?

Jürgen Klopp is having his proverbial seven years at Liverpool, and it’s around this time that things start to fall apart for him. This is the third time in a row he’s experienced this, so it’s no wonder there’s talk of his departure.

Jürgen Klopp is having his proverbial seven years at Liverpool, and it’s around this time that things start to fall apart for him. This is the third time in a row he’s experienced this, so it’s no wonder there’s talk of his departure. However, similar talk in Spain is starting about the coaching post at Real Madrid, where many are fitting the German coach in. So what is currently known?

Liverpool’s decline

As recently as last spring, Liverpool were considered one of the best teams in the world. It had won the FA Cup and the EFL Cup, was in the Champions League final and was also fighting for the Premier League title.

It was on the verge of a unique quadruple, but couldn’t win either of the valuable trophies. Manchester City dominated the English league, while Real Madrid lifted the trophy.

Moreover, in the summer Sadio Mané left for Bayern Munich and thus slowly began Liverpool’s downfall. In the autumn, the Reds started to lose a lot of money, and in the Champions League they were beaten by Napoli and finished second in the group.

Liverpool’s performances have been even worse since they have been playing again after the World Cup. New signing Cody Gakpo has fallen into the Reds misery and is doing absolutely nothing. This is evidenced by the following fact.

The World Cup ended on December 18, the Premier League restarted on December 26, and since then Liverpool’s top scorer has been Leicester defender Wout Faes, who has scored two goals of his own in the return leg. No player has managed to score two goals, not even Salah, Díaz or Núñez.

Unless something miraculously improves, Liverpool are unlikely to play in the Champions League next season, probably not even the Europa League. The team must face a rebuild and a new era, some players have probably served their time and some may need a fresh wind again, like Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Klopp’s link with Real Madrid?

El Nacional reported that already in the summer, Real Madrid representatives were in communication with the German coach about his potential move to the Spanish capital.

Moreover, these speculations are also starting to intensify with the talk in Spain about the end of Carlo Ancelotti at the Santiago Bernabéu, which is expected to happen just after the end of this season. In fact, Brazilian media has come out with the information that Ancelotti has already made his decision and will become the coach of the Brazilian national football team.

However, it seems that these speculations are false alarms, as Fabrizio Romano published a statement from the Italian coach that refutes everything. “Brazilian national team? I don’t know anything about that. I don’t even know about what is written in Brazil. I am the coach of Real Madrid and I have a contract until June 2024,” Ancelotti said.

On the other hand, we have witnessed many times the refutation of speculations that turned out to be true in a few days. However, this could also be the beginning of a media battle ahead of the Champions League clash, which kicks off with a duel at Anfield on 21 February.

The fate of the Italian coach on the bench of the White Ballet will of course be decided by the results, especially the aforementioned eighth-final with Liverpool. In La Liga, Real Madrid is already 8 points behind Barcelona.

It will also be interesting to see how Liverpool develop, especially Klopp, who may conclude, as he did earlier in Mainz or Dortmund, that he has nothing more to give to the team and needs to move on. Real Madrid is the absolute pinnacle for almost every coach and so for a 55 year old coach this move would be quite logical.
