Another impact on the title fight in Italy! Inter were helped against Torino by the referee, now they are under fire for criticism. How could this not be a penalty?
If there’s one of the top five leagues in Europe where we can see a truly dramatic battle for the title, it’s the Italian one. However, the referees unfortunately interfere in places and that was not the case this weekend when Inter Milan got help.
If there’s one of the top five leagues in Europe where we can see a truly dramatic battle for the title, it’s the Italian one. However, the referees unfortunately interfere in places and that was not the case this weekend when Inter Milan got help.
Serie A offers fantastic drama in the title battle this season. With nine rounds to go, there are still more or less four teams in the title race and the situation is very interesting. Every match can be decisive, every game is extremely important.
AC Milan are now in the lead with 63 points, Napoli are second with 60 points, Inter are third with 59 points but have a game in hand, Juventus are fourth with 56 points.
It should be noted, however, that the beautiful title fight this season has already been interfered with several times by the referees’ mistakes. Unfortunately, it was no different at the weekend, when Inter Milan played on the ground of Torino on Sunday.
Torino started the game brilliantly, took the lead early and were the better team at least in the first half. However, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
And what was so crucial in the match? Andrea Belotti, the striker of Torino, in which among others David Zima plays, was clearly fouled in the penalty area of Inter. The home team should have taken a penalty, but the foul was not whistled at all.
Thus, Torino was deprived of the chance to go into a two-goal lead and lost the win. Inter then got a point, which they probably would not have won without this “help”.
In Serie A, the VAR system works in every match, so it is completely incomprehensible and unacceptable that there was no intervention. The referee from this match is facing huge criticism in the Italian media, a quick suspension is expected.
