WRC icon and legend Sébastien Ogier has announced his fourth return to rally racing as he will be part of the Toyota Gazoo Racing team for the final three events of the season in New Zealand, Spain and Japan.
The great WRC legends have opted to only enter the 2022 season’s sub-events for this year and so will not be a firm part of the World Championship.
Ogier made his first start of the year in the season opener at Monte-Carlo, where he lost the lead at the very end, finishing second overall behind another legend, Sébastien Loeb.
Ogier’s next appearance was in Portugal, where he failed to score any points, but fourth place was secured on his third return when he took part in the Kenya Rally.
This will now be his fourth return, with the eight-time champion taking part in all three of the final rounds of the 2022 season.
The Repco Rally New Zealand will take place in late September/early October, with the Rally of Catalonia kicking off on October 20 and the WRC finishing the season in Japan on November 10.
Ogier is currently only 11th in the drivers’ championship with 34 points, and obviously has no thoughts of defending his title as a result of his partial WRC run.
“I’m very excited to be driving in New Zealand. But what’s new is that I’ll also be competing in Spain and Japan to complete the last three rounds of this season. I’m really excited about the challenge and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone,” Ogier told WRC.
