Anniversary of the most famous knee drop or the fastest KO in UFC history. Masvidal put Askren to sleep in a whopping five seconds!

Four years ago, mixed martial arts fans were treated to the fastest KO in the UFC, a feat that has still not been surpassed. It was the work of Jorge Masvidal, who put Ben Askren to sleep with a jumping knee in just five seconds.

The huge rivalry was over before the two could settle their scores. The fastest knockout in UFC history made the rounds in the mixed martial arts world, and to this day, the illustrious record remains unsurpassed.

He started out on the streets of Miami, where he fought bare knuckle street battles alongside his mentor Kimbo Slice. Then he embarked on a career as a professional MMA fighter and his star shone brightly.

He has been fighting in mixed martial arts since 2003 and has been a part of organizations like Strikeforce and Bellator. Ten years later he then signed in the biggest MMA organization in the world, the UFC.

6. on July 2019, he was then scheduled to face former ONE FC and Bellator champion Ben Askren. The latter was then being paid as one of the greatest fighters outside of the UFC.

Ben Askren entered the famed UFC as an undefeated top-notch wrestler for over a decade, even competing freestyle in the 2008 Olympics. He then introduced himself to the UFC with a somewhat controversial win against the legendary Robbie Lawler.

So everyone wanted to see him take on Masvidal, who impressively knocked out title challenger Darren Till. Both men had an intense trash talk before UFC 239, so the tension before the fight itself was palpable.

Masvidal, who promised his opponent brutality, then went on to exceed his promises. Just before the fight began, he leaned with his hands behind his back against the octagon mesh, measuring his rival with an almost frightening gaze.

Gamebread read perfectly the tactics of Askren, who was just about to tear him down, and caught him with a crazy jumping knee. Askren’s limp body fell to the floor, and before the referee could get to him, two more fairly useless punches landed on his face.

The finish in just five seconds marked the fastest knockout in the history of the organization, which has still not been surpassed.

Masvidal won the title of “the biggest bad guy on the planet” in his next fight, when he demolished Nate Diaz. From that point on, he became one of the biggest stars of the organization and PPV broadcasts.
