Ankalaev considering end of UFC after draw? I won, so why don’t I have a title? I don’t know what the hell happened here, he said

When Jiří Procházka vacated the title, the wait was on to see which of the pair Jan Blachowicz – Magomed Ankalaev would win it. In the end, no one put on the belt, the fight ended in a draw and the Russian did not hide his indignation.

Jiri Prochazka was scheduled to defend his belt in a rematch against Glover Teixeira at UFC 282. However, due to an injury, the bout fell through and Teixeira also did not appear at the tournament. The Czech gave up the title and the two men who challenged Prochazka fought for it.

Ankalaev went into the match as a slight favourite, but Blachowicz already held the title and had fought great battles, so he could not be underestimated. The fight was fairly even and ended on points.

Both fighters went into the announcement uncertain, Blachowicz rather resigned, Ankalaev a little more confident. There was a surprising verdict when we saw a split draw, with one judge seeing the Polish fighter win, one seeing the Russian win and the third seeing a draw.

So no one received the belt, which made Ankalaev very angry. In fact, he believed that he would be the one to win the belt and get the chance to defend against Glover Teixeira next year.

“I don’t know what to say. I won, so why don’t I have the title? Where’s my belt? I don’t know what to say. Unfortunately, I can’t control who scores my fight, but I just won. I want the title! Where the hell is it?

He may have kicked my legs, but that was just pain. I was ready to do anything for the title. I adapted. If I can’t stand, I go to the ground and vice versa. I can do both.

I don’t know if I’ll fight for this organization anymore because I honestly don’t know what the hell happened here. I don’t know what to say. I thank my team and everyone who supports me. I don’t know,” he said after the fight.

The press conference afterwards must have angered him even more, because it’s clear who will go for the title with Teixeira. It will be Jamahal Hill, so Ankalaev probably won’t even get a title shot next year.

However, Ankalaev then came out with another statement. According to his words, he was mis-translated and misquoted, thus he doesn’t plan on ending up in the UFC. “It was mistranslated, I said I don’t want to fight in this city anymore.

Because the judges were terrible. I won this fight. Not one person on the internet said I lost that fight. Even Jan Blachowicz said I won this fight. This fight can only help me grow and I am grateful for this opportunity.”
