On Sunday night, tennis fans will be treated to the final match in Cincinnati between Andrey Rublev and Alexander Zverev. Will the German representative confirm his role as the paper favourite?
Andrey Rublev is a 23-year-old tennis player from Russia. He is currently ranked seventh in the ATP rankings. Nothing would change that even if the Moscow native wins on Sunday.
However, he is not playing his best tennis on the hard surface in Cincinnati. He lost a set to both Marin Cilic and Benoit Paire. He also did not show a convincing performance in his duel with Gael Monfils, which was decided only in shortened games. On Saturday, however, he managed to knock out Daniil Medvedev, the world number two.
His opponent on Sunday will be Alexander Zverev. The 24-year-old German tennis player is ranked fifth in the ATP rankings. However, he will move ahead of Rafael Nadal on Monday, even if he does not win the final match.
The Hamburg native has been performing well on American concrete, building on his gold medal at the Olympics. Zverev lost his only set against Stefanos Tsitsipas.
So what to bet on? The favourite for Sunday’s match is undoubtedly Alexander Zverev. The matchups are also in his favour (the German leads 4-1, with the only loss coming during an exhibition on the Adria Tour).
