  • Real Madrid have not lost a game under his leadership for the 39th time in a row
  • This means that the former Real Sociedad coach, Alberto Ormaetxea, has lost the top spot

Real Madrid have made a solid start to the new league season. Although it has lost four points from seven matches, it is in second place in LaLiga with 17 points. Barcelona is currently the leader, with a one-point lead over Real, but with one match to spare.

The White Ballet played their last league match against Deportivo Alavés, in which Carlo Ancelotti made a significant anniversary. As a coach, he took charge of his 300th match as head of the Real Madrid bench. His charges gave him a nice present to mark this important anniversary, with a 3-2 victory.

Not that this will spell the end of Ancelotti at Real any time soon, that’s for sure. Not only does the 57-year-old coach not intend to quit, but he also wants to spend a few more years on the Madrid giant’s bench.

“I don’t think about my future at all, I love this job. I’ve been lucky to coach great teams, tomorrow will be my 300th game at the best club in the world, it’s something special,” Ancelotti told reporters at a press conference ahead of Tuesday’s game, his words also quoted by beIN SPORTS.

Ancelotti has set a new LaLiga record!

In addition, however, Ancelotti broke the previous LaLiga record. Real Madrid have not lost 39 matches in a row in the Spanish top flight under his leadership.

This made the then Real Sociedad coach Alberto Ormaetxea (38 games undefeated between 1979 and 1980) the first to lose this statistic. Moreover, Ancelotti has one more record in sight with his charges.

Real have not lost 39 matches in a row, so they may soon catch up with Barcelona, who have 43 matches without defeat.
