Real Madrid had another magical night at the Santiago Bernabéu, turning around a hopeless game against City in stoppage time. How did Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti motivate his players?

Real Madrid complete another incredible turnaround

Real Madrid never cease to amaze the football world. In yesterday’s Champions League semi-final rematch, it still looked like the Spanish team would not make it to the final in Paris with a minute to go.

But then the White Ballet players performed another memorable turnaround. Brazilian youngster Rodrygo’s two goals in stoppage time decided the game in the Spanish capital. Frenchman Karim Benzema then sealed another sensational remodel in the 95th minute.

Carlo Ancelotti’s charges now head into the final, which will be played on 28 May at the Parc des Princes in Paris. Their opponents will be Liverpool and we will see a rematch of the 2017/2018 edition. In the final played in Kiev, Los Blancos defeated their island rivals 3-1, completing a historic hat-trick of three consecutive LM titles under then-coach Zidane.

Ancelotti breaks coaching records

The current Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has once again shown his exceptionalism. After reaching the historic milestone of being the only coach to win all five of Europe’s top leagues at the weekend, he scored another individual success in yesterday’s match.

He was the only coach to take his team to the final of the millionaire competition on five occasions, three times with AC Milan and now for the second time with Real Madrid. Interestingly, it was the team from Liverpool that he faced three times in these finals. The only defeat of the Italian strategist in the memorable duel for not only Czech fans was also provided by his successful hit by Vladimir Šmicer.

Ancelotti showed a special video to the players in the pre-match preparation

“They were a very difficult opponent, but the team never gave up, we had everything::: dedication, luck and energy,” Ancelotti praised his charges according to the daily Marca. “The credit goes to the players and the fans who pushed the team forward, the weight of the jersey and the pride of the club also play a role,” he praised the great atmosphere at the Santiago Bernabéu.

“I’m very happy to have reached the final and to be playing against Liverpool again, ” Ancelotti alluded to the fact that he will be playing the opponents from the city of The Beatles for the third time. “I lived in Liverpool for two years and it’s a derby for me,” he added of his opponent.

The motivation for the Real Madrid player was obvious before the game, but he still prepared something special for his charges. “We showed them a video of all the turnovers we have made this season, ” he said of his preparation for the match. “There were eight in total, now we’ve made another one,” he said.

Asked if he would smoke another cigar on this occasion after a photo went viral on social media during the weekend’s Spanish La Liga title celebrations with his players, he replied with a light-hearted response. “I don’t smoke cigars,” the Italian laughed, “It was just a photo with my friends because the players are my friends,” he confirmed the amazing symbiosis between the coach and his players.
