Real Madrid face Chelsea in the Champions League quarter-finals. Ahead of the important duel for both teams, Carlo Ancelotti was in a rather good mood at the press conference.

Real Madrid ran into Chelsea at the same stage already last season. However, the difference then was that the double-header started at Stamford Bridge, while tomorrow the first leg will be played at the Santiago Bernabéu.

In London, Real won 3-1 thanks to Karim Benzema’s hat-trick, and in the return leg, the Blues went 3-0 up, but Rodrygo sent the game into extra time just before the end, with Benzema making the difference.

Real then went on to beat Manchester City and Liverpool to win their 14th Champions League trophy. This is the second time Carlo Ancelotti has lifted the trophy during his third season at Real Madrid, and the second time in his first season back at the Bernabéu.

He also managed to win La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup, added the European Super Cup in the summer and this February he added the Club World Cup. To get the magical sextuple and therefore dominate all possible trophies, he needed to win the Copa del Rey.

While that didn’t happen, Ancelotti has that opportunity in the current edition, where he will face Osasuna in the Spanish Cup final. And the Italian coach also remembered this in his press conference.

“For me, coaching this team is very easy. Everybody says I’m managing it very well. I’m great at that, but there are other things, this team is well prepared. If we win the cup, we will win all the possible titles in two seasons and some teams don’t win them in their whole lives,” Ancelotti said. I said what I wanted to say, so have a good day,” the Italian said, entertaining the whole hall.

Ancelotti still has to deal with speculation about his replacement, or that Real Madrid won the Champions League last year only through luck. However, Los Blancos are one of the favourites to defend the Champions League, so the criticism towards Ancelotti is sometimes exaggerated and the Italian strategist did not let it go.
