Manchester United with a lot of reinforcements against Wolverhampton without any sold stars. It was expected to be a clear-cut game, but it was decided by one goal in the final. And the Red Devils were saved by a missed penalty.

Wolves entered the game actively, playing quite often in the attacking half. Alejandro Garnacho missed the first big chance in the 11th minute, José Sá was able to intervene. Otherwise, the opening 20 minutes offered nothing dangerous.

It was only in the 26th minute that Pablo Sarabia scored on a breakaway, but missed the right post of André Onana’s goal by a whisker. And in the 33rd minute, Matheus Cunha missed the left post by inches.

On the other side, Marcus Rashford had a header, but Nelson Semedo blocked his attempt. Garancho tried his luck in the 41st minute, but missed the far post from an angle. The match was scoreless.

Wolves came out in the second half too, with Cunha scoring a great chance at the back post in the 49th minute. But the Brazilians threatened for the home side as well, Anthony’s lob into the box was knocked down for a corner by experienced stopper Craig Dawson.

The Brazilian half continued with another chance for Cunha, a ground shot had to be cleared by Onana. And Wolves were more dangerous after the change of sides, but Pedro Neto just dusted the keeper’s gloves from a good position in the 72nd minute.

Three minutes later, the home side celebrated. Aaron wan Bissaka craftily lobbed Raphael Varane in front of an empty net. Wolves did not give up, but three chances were then missed by substitute Fabio Silva.

Hwang Hi Chan only hit the side netting in stoppage time. Three minutes later, Onana brought down Sasha Kaladzic in the whitewash, yet the head referee did not go to the screen for a replay and the Red Devils eventually won 1:0.
