Although he was unable to dominate the Australian Open junior final, he was still applauded by the entire tennis community. Sixteen-year-old Jakub Mensik was hit by severe cramps several times during his match with Bruno Kuzuhara, but he tried to fight them off and eventually finished the match.
A huge success was not far away, however, sixteen-year-old Jakub Mensik has to be content with being the second best tennis player at the Junior Australian Open.
The match was extremely even, the first set ended with the victory of American Bruno Kuzuhara 7::6 after less than an hour of play, the second set was won by the Czech by the same margin.
Even the third set had no clear winner, but at 6::5 for the American tennis player Menšík got cramps, which made him first wriggle standing, but then also on the ground.
In spite of the severe pain, Menshik did not give up and tried to continue, however, he did not manage the game and finally had to bow to the winner after losing 1::2 in sets.
Even so, the whole world applauded him and a video of his convulsions went viral. Nevertheless, this result is a hope for the months to come.
Before the final defeat, Mensik had beaten five of his opponents and hopefully we will hear more from him in the future.
