Alcaraz reached the semi-finals at the last tournament in Indian Wells. Now, he is looking to at least repeat that success and against the world number five Stefanos Tsitsipas, he was able to step towards that goal. There was the best tennis on display, which produced some amazing exchanges.
By far the best moment of this match came early in the first set. Tsitsipas rounded the Spaniard after a successful short game and drove him to the baseline. But he tried a tweener, a shot played between the legs.
But the Greek responded to the tweener in the same way. But Alcaraz was waiting for his shot, and his hit at the net started a thunderous applause from all the fans.
The great Spanish hope won in two sets 7::5 and 6::3. She moves into the top 15 players in the world after the tournament.
In the quarter-finals, Alcaraz will face Serbian Miomir Kečmanović, who knocked out the winner of the last tournament in Indian Wells, American Taylor Fritz.
