An 11-hour flight delay? Big derailment, says Petržela. The witness didn’t talk much at training

Slovácko imagined a slightly different preparation before the most important match in the club’s history. The team flew to Sweden 11 hours later than it was supposed to, which greatly upset the players and especially their coach Martin Svedik.

Everything was perfectly planned. Slovácko players were supposed to meet at 7:00 am on Wednesday, and at 10:30 am they were supposed to leave Brno-Turany for Sweden. However, the plane was stuck in Riga, Latvia, where it was not allowed to leave the runway in the morning, probably due to a technical fault.

So the players went to their hotel in Brno, trained at the Moravská Slavia field in the afternoon and flew to Stockholm late in the evening, 11 hours later than they were supposed to.

“I don’t know what the consequences of this could be. It’s quite a big derailment. But hopefully we are experienced and professional enough to deal with it,” Milan Petržela told iSport.

It was the biggest problem for coach Martin Svedik. He is known for having to have everything worked out in detail and if there is a problem somewhere, it’s bad.

“He didn’t even talk much at training. It was more like he was thinking, pondering something. But there’s nothing we can do about it. It‘s quite unpleasant, but we have to prepare for it in our heads, motivate ourselves and keep focused,” Petržela said.

“It’s a complication, but there’s still a lot of time left until the game,” captain Michal Kadlec didn’t lose his head. “It’s nothing out of the ordinary. Fenerbahce also trained at home, came to us in the evening and then went straight into the match,” the experienced stopper tries to look for positives.
