The fourth round of the MotoGP season brought more than an attractive spectacle. An absolutely phenomenal performance by Marc Márquez, however, the second victory of the year goes to Enea Bastianini!
“It was a really fantastic day, but we had a very difficult race. In the first part of the race, Miller was very fast, then Rins got very close to me and I thought that now is the moment when I have to push hard. I knew that the temperature of the front tyres was going to increase a lot, so I drove like a beast,” said Bastianini in a post-race interview.
The 24-year-old Italian rider started the race from fifth position, but worked his way up during the race and had some very tough battles with Alex Rins and Jack Miller.
Bastianini took the lead with five laps to go in the US Grand Prix. Almost immediately, however, he was able to build up a decent lead and hold on for the win!
However, the Ducati rider also lost second place at the very end when he was overtaken by Rins. It should be noted that both Suzuki riders had already shown great form at the last Argentine Grand Prix, which they were able to build on both in terms of results and performance.
Meanwhile, the Team Suzuki riders started the US Grand Prix from seventh and eighth positions.
“I feel very good. I don’t even know how I did it, but I was super fast in the first sector, we were only losing on acceleration. But the battle with Jack was fair and clean. I dedicate second place to Ukraine and the people who are suffering because of the war or the coronavirus,” Rins said immediately after the race.
However, Marc Márquez also deserves a lot of praise, as he had a bad start due to technical problems and only went into the first corner in 23rd place!
However, he managed to climb up the standings during the race and eventually secured sixth place for himself after a beautiful duel with Fabio Quartararo.
On the other hand, the Pramac drivers gradually dropped down the order – Jorge Martin finished eighth after starting from pole position, while Johann Zarco finished ninth from his original fourth place.
So this is the final standings of the US Grand Prix, which offered a number of wonderful battles in the middle of the field and in the battles for the victory and the podium!
The next race is scheduled for April 24, when MotoGP visits Portugal, specifically the Algarve International Circuit.
