Amazing news for AC! The number one Maignan is finally expected to return from injury, Bennacer is also expected to be ready
For AC Milan fans – finally! After a long term injury, two great mainstays are returning to the squad, Mike Maignan and Ismaël Bennacer. Or rather, they were supposed to return. However, according to the latest reports, they should be available at the earliest opportunity, namely in the match against Atalanta.
The French goalkeeper last played for AC Milan on 22 September last year, in a Nations League match against Austria.
However, back then he picked up a calf injury which forced him to be substituted at half-time. His last league game was on 18 September, when AC lost to Napoli 1-2.
The Rossoneri’s number one goalkeeper has only played seven league games and two Champions League matches this season.
Since then, Ciprian Tătărușanu has been in goal for Milan, but although he has been AC’s mainstay in recent matches, he is not fit to be the number one goalkeeper at such a big club.
In any case, Maignano’s problem got worse after that, the 27-year-old goalkeeper couldn’t continue his recovery and was given a stoppage for a significantly longer period than initially expected.
However, Gianluca Di Marzio has come out with the information that Maignan has completed the entire last training session, giving the team a positive message regarding his return to the goalmouth. The club is monitoring his condition on a daily basis, while desperately trying to avoid potential complications.
Although it is not yet certain whether Maignan will start the match against Atalanta, according to the latest reports everything is on track. And the same goes for midfielder Bennacero.
The 25-year-old defensive midfielder has already missed four league games. First he didn’t start against Sassuolo due to a spell, then he didn’t start the games against Inter, Torino and Monza due to a muscle injury (biceps).
The Rossoneri have at least somewhat repaired their reputation in recent matches, winning three games in a row and keeping a clean sheet each time. It must be added, after the month of January, this was more than the order of the day.
